Those nightmares rendered in paper mache are cabezudos and they are a part of the Festival of San Sebastian which is currently either delighting or tormenting me. The cabezudos though, are a horror movie in waiting. People march with those things on their heads…like it’s ok to do that.

Bronze medal winner Javier Culson was welcomed back to his hometown of Ponce in Puerto Rico with a giant bronze medal hanging off the big ass letter ‘C’ that makes up a giant sculpture that spells out ‘Ponce’ on the highway leading into the town.

Happy Little Christmas! Or Three King’s Day. Whatever you want to call it, I’ll be busy stuffing bacalaitos down my gullet. Bacalaitos are the unappetizing looking thing up there, which is made up of fried, pressed codfish and they are amazing. You can find the recipe here but I don’t recommend making them unless you have an outdoor cooking area because they will stank you place up in no time. If you are fortunate enough to have a Spanish neighborhood near you, there will likely be a restaurant or street vendor who can whip them up for you, stank free.
