What is it with Smallville and male models? Not that it’s a bad thing. Not at all.

therearecertainshadesoflimelight replied to your quote:Doing Smallville for eight years, I had a lot of…Even for the one episode it was completely inappropriate and uncomfortable.
The only time I recall her in skintight leather (and it really wasn’t leather, that would have been REALLY expensive) was in “Thirst” where she gets turned into a vampire and she was dressed as a sexy cat at a Halloween party. Lana was in college at that point so it didn’t seem inappropriate to me. Don’t get me wrong, Kristin herself might have felt uncomfortable in that outfit but character wise, it didn’t seem exploitative whereas when she was playing a 15 year old and they had Lana stripping down to red lace underwear it did feel exploitative even though a body double was used. Kristin could have spoken about the time the director of Slumber told her that “she had a great body and she should show it off more” and THAT would have been a good selling point about how young actresses are mistreated on sets. I would have also liked to have heard all of the actresses speak about the pressure to do Maxim-type photo shoots, especially the one Kristin did for Arena magazine. I wish that there was a panel like this every year for actresses to talk openly about the industry.

I haven’t always made the right decisions. Lex seems to think that I’m dragging Clark’s ghost around with me. Chloe, I have this terrible feeling, I feel like if I do this with Lex, I’m going to lose my identity.
It’s just I keep blaming my trust issues on everyone else and the truth is, the person I don’t trust is myself. I keep…I haven’t always made the right decisions and when I realize that I’ve made the wrong ones, I’m too far gone to get myself out.

Easily one of her Lana’s best scenes and best moments. She always saw herself clearly, she was never blinded by the way other people saw her. She fought tooth and nail to be seen as something other than a victim, or a princess, or perfect…that was other people’s baggage thrown on her (and yes, I’m talking about the fans as well). And if there is a single scene where Chloe ever showed this much self awareness, I’ll eat my hat.
On set pic of Kristin Kreuk, obviously a shot from the fourth season since the date is 9/21/04. Why do I get the feeling this was another “Lana gets knocked unconscious” shot?
